For this two hour Yin Yoga class, participants will have a chance to yield and allow their bodies to prepare for deep relaxation. This practice will increase mobility and strength in the joints, by stretching the connective tissue in a safe and informed way. The students will be instructed on how to come into the posture at the appropriate depth for themselves, with the intention of embracing the stillness. Yin Yoga will allow the practitioner to move past resistance, while surrendering to the breath in a soft and steady rhythm. Each pose is held for a period of 3-5 minutes, with the use of props. At the end of the surrendering physical practice, students will be taken into a deep rest and the class will end with simple pranayama and mantra. This practice is suitable for all levels, but please make instructor aware of any injuries or concerns.

Meg Affonso, E-RYT, YACEP, is an experienced yoga teacher based in the Albany, NY area. Meg has been a student of yoga for 17 years and she began sharing her love for yoga in the spring of 2008 after completing training. Her teaching has allowed her to reach many people by teaching a variety of classes, trainings & workshops, from Vinyasa Flow to Prenatal Yoga. Meg loves how yoga can be both a powerful catalyst for transformation and a gentle tool for daily life. Meg has a professional background in the performing and culinary arts. She is the mother of two sweet and silly kids, who keep her laughing every day.
