In Ayurveda, diet is a major focus for maintaining wellness and balance in the body as it is in many Wellness approaches. Foods are categorized based on their qualities and how those qualities present in the person consuming them.
My favorite cooling foods are:
Coconut (milk, water, meat)
Some foods known to increase heat in the body and the negatives aspects of Pitta Dosha are:
Anything Spicy Hot
Now if you’re like most people, you love all of the things that aren’t necessarily great for you. Isn’t it funny how that works!? Also if you’re like most people you think to yourself, “but I don’t want to give up all of my favorite things.” You don’t have to give them up to find a better balance for yourself, you just need to practice moderation and awareness.
If you’d like more information on managing your diet based on the seasons, Dosha, and your personal constitutional please feel free to reach out to us. Some of our teachers are available for private consultation on these concepts.
